Aus Music Identity Brian Gleeson & Adelaide Oval Inducted Into SA Hall Of Fame

“Brian Gleeson has been a passionate stalwart of the music industry for many years."

SA music identity Brian Gleeson and Adelaide Oval have been inducted into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame.

Having already been awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2013, Gleeson was fittingly inducted into the Hall Of Fame at a ceremony at Adelaide Oval yesterday.

“Brian Gleeson has been a passionate stalwart of the music industry for many years while the iconic Adelaide Oval has changed the face of the city of Adelaide since its renovation,” Frontier boss Michael Gudinski said at the event.

Kicking off his career as a drummer for Elfin Glade in the ‘70s – and later Shamrock – Gleeson then launched Brian Gleeson Management and worked alongside The Zep Boys, Counterfeit and more before founding one-stop entertainment company Adelaide Rock Exchange, which he sold in ‘95 and moved onto events and concert management.

He’s since gone on to make the Adelaide 500 a massive annual event and, more recently, introduced the Bands On Track initiative, which shines a spotlight on local talent.

“Being involved in the music and events industry my entire working life has been a rewarding and enjoyable career,” Gleeson said.

“When I was in school, all I wanted to do was to play in a band and fortunately my dream came true.

“Event and concert management now gives me the opportunity to provide gigs for artists and although I deal with some of the biggest acts in the world, I really enjoy working with South Australian acts in particular through my association with Music SA.”

Gleeson is the Hall Of Fame’s 100th individual inductee, joining a list that already includes Cold Chisel, Archie Roach and more.
