Adelaide Council Confirms Soundwave Bond Loss Over Noise Breach

Adelaide City Council has confirmed their city's leg of the Soundwave Festival forfeited their $10,000 bond due to a breach of noise levels.

A statement released by the council today revealed the festival breached conditions of the Noise Mitigation Standard Operation Procedures.

"The loss of the Soundwave noise bond of $10,000 is due to a breach of noise criteria and noise bond conditions that are clearly identified in the Noise Mitigation Standard Operation Procedures," the statement read.

"Soundwave forfeited its bond due to the noise levels being exceeded for more than 33% of the total event duration."

The council denied that complaints made by residents in the area surrounding the event's Bonython Park location played a part in the bond loss.

"It is correct that Adelaide City Council and Soundwave received several complaints during this year's event, these complaints have not attributed to the forfeit of the noise bond," the statement continued.

"ACC welcomes a booking application from Soundwave for their venue of choice of their 2015 event."

Earlier today, Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah tweeted that the event will remain in Adelaide "if ACC do not change our rental agreement with Bonython Park."

He did confirm in multiple tweets however that one of his other festivals, Warped - which returned to Australia last year - would not happen in Adelaide this year.
