Bespoke work brightens up the Broadway Shopping Centre
Australian contemporary street artist Anthony Lister can now add Broadway Shopping Centre to the long list of places he's had his work exhibited.
Following exhibitions in the US, UK, Europe and Asia, Lister will create a bespoke artwork that can be seen on the Centre's façade and overhead walkway on Francis Street.
Lister's work is known to be influenced by the techniques of “bad” painting as well as graffiti art to creative dramatic and striking works. His Broadway mural depicts native birds, and Lister says he was inspired by the “curious cockatoos” he'd always see at the mural's location, followed by displaced cats.
“I wanted the piece to be fluent with motion and grace. It was the obvious subject matter,” he said.

Justine Saltmarsh, Centre Manager for Broadway Shopping Centre, expressed that she was proud that the Centre was supporting street art and artists, and that Lister's work will complement Broadway and draw more people into the Centre.
