Creatives across two hubs in Victoria have been provided a lifeline by the State Government.
Abbotsford Convent and Collingwood Yards have received $800,000 in funding which will provide relief for hundreds of small businesses and independent artists amid the COVID pandemic.
The funding will help provide rent relief to tenants and will allow both spaces to prepare for the return of visitors by implementing the necessary public health measures.
“These Collingwood sites bring together hundreds of independent creative workers and businesses, and this support will help them survive and come back strong post-pandemic,” Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley said.
“With the shutdown, creative activity has ground to a halt. These supports are part of our work to ensure the future of Victoria’s creative community and thousands of creative jobs, and secure the future of these sites as creative and cultural opportunities.”
Collingwood Yards was originally slated to open back in May, but its launch has been pushed back due to the COVID outbreak.
