More Jacob Diamond More Jacob Diamond

WA camping festival Southbound is fast approaching, and after several line-up announcements over the past few months, they’re not quite done yet, with the addition of one local act to be determined before the day is over.

The annual Stagebound competition – which gives a local WA artist the chance to strut their stuff on the main stage - is once again coming to an end (voting closes 11pm WA time tonight), so we thought we’d give you a rundown of why we chose to back Perth singer Jacob Diamond out of the countless other talented WA acts.

Here are five compelling reasons to vote for Mr Jacob Diamond to play Southbound 2016 alongside Courtney Barnett, Foals, The Wombats and more. Get voting via Southbound's website!

Best Folk Act

That’s right, the one and only Jacob Diamond was crowned Best Folk act at the WAM Awards earlier this month. That win follows on from Diamond finishing in first place in this year’s Big Splash competition. Let’s get him on stage at Southbound and make it three for three.

The Perfect Fit

The folk title only showcases one side of the Perth troubadour’s skillset. Recently enlisting a top-notch band (featuring members of Tired Lion, Apache and more), his reverb-drenched leads and dreamy vocals will be right at home at the WA festival.

New Music On The Horizon

And what better a place to showcase and try out material from his upcoming EP.

John DiMaggio Approved

The voice behind Futurama’s Bender and Adventure Time’s Jake The Dog digs Diamond’s vibe just as much as we do, as evident from this video that shows one John DiMaggio in the background giving the nod of approval during a performance. If that doesn’t convince you, nothing will.

All-Round Nice Dude
