One of 4ZZZ’s hottest radio shows at the moment, Sonic Alien, is turning one year old - and, to celebrate, they’re throwing a massive birthday bash at The Bearded Lady (commonly referred to as The Beardo).
Sonic Alien has hosted a range of international and Australian guests, including Amyl and the Sniffers, Fontaines DC, IDLES, King Stingray, and many more. But, more importantly, the show aims to platform up-and-coming local (and interstate) artists. Though Sonic Alien was only created a year ago, it has already left an indelible mark on the Brisbane scene.
And what better way to commemorate that year than a huge party? With a stacked lineup of local bands to perform, this event is not to be missed. Mt. Nadir, Blue Diner, and Reno LTD. are all slated to perform. Bean Magazine is likely to be the highlight of the night though, warming up their skills before heading on tour with Ball Park Music next month.
The birthday bash will be held at The Beardo on next Saturday, April 19. Tickets are on sale now for $25 via Oztix, with a portion of the proceeds going towards 4ZZZ itself.

Queensland’s longest-running FM radio station, 4ZZZ is a staple in Brisbane, reliably pumping out alternative music, news and culture since they began in 1975. The not-for-profit community broadcaster is mostly run by volunteers, as well as a few key paid staff - and is a worthy cause for proceeds to go towards.
Adding to the feel-good nature of the event, punters will also be helping out The Beardo by attending. Just last month, the Brisbane venue announced that it is in danger of shutting down, due to “serious financial strain”. By going to the event, buying drinks, and just generally having a good time, you will be helping to “keep the music flowing and the Bearded Lady alive and thriving for years to come.”
