"Hip hop has an incredible velocity that enters the ears and activates the heart and the fist," Biennale Curator of Programs and Learning, Paschal Daantos Berry, said about the event.
"It’s always been an expression that mobilises people out of inaction – to rapture systems and reframe identities. 4ESydney, has always highlighted incredible idiosyncratic voices and game changers like L-FRESH, and others who have eked out incredible careers from the edge.
"It’s this uncompromising positioning of manifesting the antithesis of what’s being centred. This is NIRIN at its core."
Vyvienne Abla, 4ESydney Festival Director/Artist Manager, echoed his sentiments.
“The vision for 4ESydney is simple - to cultivate a community that involves the power of people, shared stories through the love of hip hop," she said.
"We are dedicated to highlighting the impactful ways that youth, artists and industry utilise hip hop culture and activism to uplift their communities, address important social issues and create their own pathways for success.
"At the very core of 4ESydney, we are here for the long run and endeavour to develop a foundation and community that will connect and impact globally."
