3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold has revealed devastating news to fans: he was recently diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer.
The Kryptonite singer shared the news in a video message to fans on Wednesday (7 May), sharing that he has a type of cancer called clear cell renal cell carcinoma. According to the Cancer Council, renal cell carcinoma is the most common kind of kidney cancer and makes up approximately 80% of renal cell carcinoma cancer diagnoses in the US (Cleveland Clinic).
“Hey, everybody, it’s Brad from 3 Doors Down. I hope you’re having a great day today; I’ve got some not-so-good news for you today,” Arnold said in a video posted to social media.
He continued, “So, I’d been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal [cell] carcinoma that had metastasised into my lung. It’s stage 4, and that’s not real good.”
Arnold added that due to his diagnosis, the band would have to cancel all upcoming tour dates, including the dates opening for Creed on their July-August Summer of ’99 tour.
While facing an extraordinary challenge, Arnold remains hopeful and turns to his faith for comfort.

“You know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything,” Arnold continued. “So, I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.
“But it is gonna force us to cancel our tour this summer. And we’re sorry for that, and I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get. I think it’s time for me to maybe go listen to [3 Doors Down’s 2008 song] It’s Not My Time a little bit. Thank you, guys, so much. God loves you; we love you. See ya.”
Arnold captioned the video, “Thank you for all the memories so far. Now, I believe ‘ITS NOT MY TIME’ is really my song. This’ll be a battle so we need our prayers warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all!”
The Music sends best wishes and positivity to Brad Arnold, his family, and friends as he deals with this diagnosis.
3 Doors Down’s most recent album, Us And The Night, was released in 2016. In 2019, Arnold stated that the band were working on the release of their seventh album. The rock band last toured Australia in March 2005.
