2022 Music Victoria Award Nominees Announced

27 October 2022 | 9:00 am | Mary Varvaris

Confidence Man, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, and Alice Ivy are among the nominees.

The annual Music Victoria Awards have shared their nominees in the Industry-Voted division, with the ceremony taking place next month.

Voted by over 200 acclaimed music judges on Australian radio, including triple j, Double J, Unearthed, JOY, KISS FM, RRR, PBS, SYN, FBI Radio, Triple M, and many more, plus more music industry heavy hitters, such as key stakeholders, music festivals, print and online media, and leading cultural organisations, including Creative Victoria, City Of Melbourne, Support Act, Support Act, APRA AMCOS, Arts Access Victoria, The Push, Multicultural Arts Victoria, and Black Musicians Alliance Australia among the judges.

The range of diversity among the nominees represents the epic Victorian musical landscape.

A new partner of Music Victoria, MAV (Multicultural Arts Victoria), is sponsoring the renamed MAV Diasporas Award (previously Best Global/Intercultural), which is an award created for, by and with culturally and linguistically diverse musicians.

The 2022 Industry-Voted Awards prizes are enormous, with new additions from Fender and Jackson - Fender American Vintage II Stratocaster 57, two Pro Series Jackson guitars, and a Pro Series Jackson bass up for grabs. Another prize is from Ableton; they have a professional development package to support two category winners. Lastly, Bakehouse will again provide rehearsal packages for the community categories.
