2015 ART Music Awards Announce Winners

Larry Sitsky picked up the prestigious Distinguished Services To Australian Music award

APRA AMCOS's annual celebration of the most outstanding musicians and composers in contemporary art music, jazz and experimental music was held last night, with well-deserving winners of the 2015 ART Music Awards announced.

With Richard Johnson picking up the Award For Excellence In Experimental Music for his passionate work in the field of experimental arts, improvising musicians and the SoundOut Festival, other musicians who picked up awards include Brett Dean for Orchestral Work Of The Year, soloist Ashley William Smith and West Australian Symphony Orchestra with conductor Baldur Brönnimann for Performance Of The Year and Gondwana Choirs for Award For Excellence By An Organisation for their contribution to music since 1989. 

Further, New England Conservatorium Of Music picked up the Award For Excellence In A Regional Area, while Lorraine Milne won the Award For Excellence In Music Education.

Composer, pianist and music educator Larry Sitsky also picked up the top honour as the 2015 recipient of the Distinguished Services To Australian Music Award.
