More The 1975 More The 1975

Remember when The 1975 were forced to pull out of their headlining set at Laneway Festival in Brisbane earlier this year just hours before they were due to go on stage?

The UK outfit announced on the night that Matty Healy had been hospitalised "following a bout of serious sickness" and in the frontman's own words - "That was gnarly".

Appearing on the latest episode of The Green Room with Neil Griffiths podcast, Healy recalled the incident and said he had been hit with salmonella from something he ate that day.

"I think it was a quiche... honestly bro, that was so bad," Healy told podcast host Neil Griffiths.

"They thought I had gastro or something but it was full on salmonella. So I was fucked.

"I was trying to do the show, but I just wasn't able to."

Healy did manage to take the stage in Sydney the following night but he admits he still wasn't in tip top shape.

"It was fucking grim," he said.

"I kept my hospital gown and shit like that. It was funny... "
