18-Year-Old Killed In Car Crash At Coachella

It is the festival's third death in as many years

Tragic news has come out of the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival this morning, with reports an 18-year-old festival attendee was killed in a car crash near the Indio, California music festival.

As News Limited reports, Michala Freeland from Highland, California was crossing the road last night around 8.15pm when a Jeep Grand Cherokee hit her at an intersection. She died an hour later at the Eisenhower Medical Centre.

The car's driver was travelling with an infant in the car and neither were hurt in the crash. He stayed to cooperate with the authorities with police ruling no alcohol and drugs were factors in the incident.

The horrifying news comes after 23-year-old Coachella attendee Jannik Andersen was struck and killed by a train at last year's festival. In 2014, another woman was killed after a suspected drug and alcohol overdose.

Coachella kicks on from 22 to 24 April for the second weekend of the festival.
