"I’m not as creatively inspired or fulfilled as I am in Wallows."

More Wallows More Wallows

Actor and songwriter Dylan Minnette has revealed his full focus will be on his band Wallows for the foreseeable future.

The 25-year-old Indiana-born artist, who blew up globally with Netflix series 13 Reasons Why from 2017-2019 as lead character Clay Jensen, said he currently has no plans to return to acting as the LA trio continue a world tour on the back of their March-released second album, Tell Me That It’s Over, which also includes an Australian leg in November.

"We’re all purely focusing on Wallows at the moment,” Minnette said on a recent episode of The Plug with Neil Griffiths podcast.

“I think if you’re gonna strive and do the best you can in something, you have to be putting your everything into it. I always just sort of have my focus on one thing at a time.”

Wallows released their debut effort Nothing Happens in March 2019 just months before the third season of 13 Reasons Why premiered, with Minnette admitting to Griffiths that it was tricky to balance both projects.

“When I was doing [13 Reasons Why] we were balancing so many things during it that I wasn’t putting all of my attention into it and that’s when I was like, ‘If I’m going to be doing this acting thing, I should be putting all of my attention into it,'" Minnette said.

"I’m just at a time in my life where I’m not really ready to be doing that. I’m not as creatively inspired or fulfilled as I am in Wallows.

"I could probably balance more if I wanted to, I just don’t want to. I just want to focus on this."

Minnette most recently appeared on the big screen in the latest instalment of iconic horror franchise, Scream, which hit cinemas earlier this year.
