"In 1991, people consumed music differently, radio was still king, the CD was on the rise, vinyl was dead and the cassette tape ruled supreme."

Josh Earl, comedian and former Spicks & Specks host, has recently launched a new podcast that reflects on the iconic 100% Hits compilation series that dominated Australian CD store shelves from 1991-2007.

Each week on the show, Earl hosts a guest as they discuss some of the greatest forgotten pop songs of all time from the series in chronological order.

Most recently he has dissected Volume 3 of the series, which was released in 1992, alongside award-winning singer, actor and comedian Michelle Brasier. The duo discuss local and international pop hits including Let's Talk About Sex by Salt N Pepa, Come To Me by Diesel, Kingston Town by UB40, Peace by Sabrina Johnston and more.

Earl has also hosted the likes of comedians Guy Montgomery, Gen Fricker and Matt Stewart, triple j weekend host Jess Perkins, podcaster Alexei Toliopoulos, Jebediah's Kevin Mitchell and actor and radio presenter Adam Richard.

In the program's teaser, Earl described the significance of the CD series stating, "In 1991, people consumed music differently, Radio was still king, the CD was on the rise, vinyl was dead and the cassette tape ruled supreme."

He continued, "In Australia, the record label EMI were about to launch a compilation that would have such an impact on a generation of music fans that in 2022 I, Josh Earl am about to embark on a podcast all about it."
