More Tones & I More Tones & I

Tones & I has reached a massive new milestone, gaining a massive 10 billion streams worldwide for her hits, Dance Monkey, Fly Away, Cloudy Day, Never Seen The Rain and many more. To date, Dance Monkey is the highest-streamed song by a female artist.

The achievement was shared by the independent Australian management company Lemon Tree Music. “We are lost for words,” her management team posted on Facebook yesterday (16 July).

“10 billion streams worldwide, so proud Tones And I of all you have achieved and continue to achieve.” Huge congratulations to Tones & I!

In October, Tones & I’s eye-watering fortune was revealed as she scored a place on the Australian Financial Review’s Young Rich List. According to the publication, the hitmaker is worth an estimated $35 million, which attributes her placement on the list to Dance Monkey, which they called an “enduring hit”.

It’s reported that Dance Monkey, which has broken tons of ARIA Chart and streaming records since its release in 2019, has earned the singer $12 million.

Dance Monkey is a hugely successful song that's racked up more than 2.8 billion streams on Spotify and another two billion views on YouTube. Here in Australia, the track has become a 19x platinum smash single.

Sony Music Entertainment's now Senior Manager Of A&R and Marketing Marietta Ouzas brought Tones & I's music to Sony offices in early 2019.

Speaking with The Music in our oral history of Dance Monkey, Ouzas said about the song’s success, “Dance Monkey was released in May and first went to #1 on the third of August. It stayed at the top of the ARIA Chart for a record-breaking 24 weeks, which is an incredible achievement.

“Then all the charts around the world started to come through from there; it was #1 in over 30 countries. In the UK, it broke the record for the longest-running #1 by a female artist on the Official Singles Chart and reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 [in the US]. Tones has had a monumental year, and I’m incredibly proud of the person she is and everything she has achieved. I’m inspired by her every day.”
