Roger Field, Live Nation’s former President for the Asia Pacific region, has revealed a new business venture entitled Further Afield.
A new advisory business venture, Field will work with businesses seeking to interact with Australia’s Live Events Industry, focusing on Business Development, Market Insights and Industry Advocacy.
With Further Afield, Field will draw on over three decades of music industry experience and knowledge, including artist liaison and booking, sponsorship, ticketing, venue development and operations, production and more. Each client will receive a targeted strategy, with Field aiming to “connect the previously unconnected.”
In a statement, Field explained that he’s “still engaged” with the live music industry that he knows and loves while remaining dedicated to growing a portfolio of contacts in other sectors looking to diversify their projects to include Live Entertainment.
“This new venture gives me the ability to ‘play the field’ (yes, also registered) in an otherwise highly segregated and competitive industry - to see what can be achieved laterally rather than just vertically,” Field said.
Adding that the Live Events Industry isn’t easy to break into, let alone “understand and navigate,” Field sees a “huge, missed opportunity.”

“I’m already working with some fantastic clients, and my time away has reaffirmed that there are so many opportunities for adjacent markets, private equity and venture capital to proactively engage with the Live Events Industry.”
Remaining steadfast in working with state and federal governments when it comes to live events, Field’s new venture aims to acknowledge the live music sector’s “massive economic contribution.”
He explained, “My previous role leading an APAC organisation of 300+ people and tens of millions of dollars turnover gave me the privilege of dealing with Prime Ministers, Premiers, Politicians, Media and Peak Bodies, leading to a significantly improved appreciation of the capability, scale and value of the Live Industry.”
Field stepped down from his role as President of the Asia Pacific Region for Live Nation in October of last year.
A source at the company confirmed to The Music he’d made the decision on good terms with his team following a break to assess his future moves.
Under his leadership, Live Nation grew exponentially in the APAC region, with venue acquisitions playing a pivotal role – the company runs Festival Hall and the Palais Theatre in Naarm/Melbourne, Hindley Street Music Hall in Kaurna/Adelaide, Anita’s Theatre in Tharawal/Thirroul, and the Fortitude Music Hall in Meanjin/Brisbane.
