In the coming months, you’ll have to change your entry onto the Maps app on your phone and your GPS when you go to gigs if you’re living in Sydney.

Since 11 April 2016, the Sydney SuperDome, located in Sydney Olympic Park, NSW, has been known as Qudos Bank Arena under a naming rights deal. Now, the venue has entered into a new naming-rights partnership and will soon be known as Afterpay Arena.

The launch will be made official in the coming months, along with an initial five-year deal. In addition to the naming-rights partnership, the arena will become the first major entertainment destination in Australia to offer Afterpay’s buy-now, pay-later flexibility, from ticket buying to transactions within the venue, including merchandise purchases.

The physical transformation of the arena, including new external signage, interior refreshments, and integrated Afterpay and Square touchpoints throughout the space, is already underway. The venue will continue to be known as Qudos Bank Arena for the time being and maintain its schedule of entertainment events.

“Live experiences are one of the more meaningful ways people choose to spend their time. We wanted to be the brand that makes sure nothing gets in the way of that,” Nick Molnar, Co-founder and CEO of Afterpay, commented in a statement.

Molnar continued, “What we’ve built here is genuinely end-to-end - the flexibility starts when you buy your ticket and carries through to fans’ meal and a piece of merch on the night. Square’s technology makes every transaction as fast as possible, because every second you’re standing in line for merch is a second you’re not in the moment you came for.

Legends Global President and Chief Executive Harvey Lister AM added, “We are obsessed with enhancing the guest experience at every interaction, and we know Afterpay’s popularity with Australian audiences means they now have another option to secure tickets.

“More than 1.1 million people walk through this Arena’s doors every year, and this partnership represents a significant evolution in how Australians access live entertainment. Afterpay’s five-year commitment is a genuine investment in Australian culture and in every single one of those fans.”

The Sydney SuperDome opened its doors in 1999, with its first concert being Luciano Pavarotti. The venue has since become a landmark spot for entertainment in Sydney, breaking attendance records and hosting the likes of Billie Eilish, Rüfüs Du Sol, and more.

In March of this year, the arena sold its 15th millionth ticket during Linkin Park’s Be Part of Something World Tour, which included two shows at the venue. In other recent news, Billboard recognised the venue as a Top 5 Music Venue globally in 2025.
