Award-winning musician and filmmaker Macario De Souza (aka Kid Mac) has announced he’s signed a new deal with Sony Music Publishing for the Australian market – revealing in the process that he has new music on the way.
The news came by way of a post shared on De Souza’s LinkedIn, in which he wrote: “Honoured to sign with Sony Music Publishing Australia and join a roster of the country's most prolific artists! Pumped to be releasing new music soon – been a long time coming!”
A press release from Sony notes that De Souza’s new deal doesn’t just cover the publishing rights for the music he releases under the Kid Mac moniker – the company will collaborate with him (alongside his agency, Pistol Management) on a wide range of upcoming music and film projects.
De Souza’s last release as Kid Mac came in December 2020, when he linked up with Freya Staer for the standalone single Backpack. A couple months earlier, in October 2020, he collaborated with Billy Fox for the single Good Life.
Since then, he’s focused heavily on his filmmaking efforts; August 2022, for example, saw him team up with Paramount+ to release the critically acclaimed drama 6 Festivals. De Souza was also nominated for Best Video at the 2022 ARIA Awards, earning his nod for directing the clip to Baker Boy’s Wish You Well.
Most recently, De Souza directed the video for Amy Shark’s single Beautiful Eyes. Take a look at that below:
