Conscious Connects: Music Industry Intensive is a practical skills development day held at Campbelltown Arts Centre this weekend, aiming to assist practicing artists and music industry professionals in building and developing skills suited to their work in the industry.

Rolling out the first edition of Conscious Connects in 2023, the program is back for a second year in a row to provide knowledge to participants wanting to get a leg up in the music industry. The Campbelltown Arts Centre will transform into a hub of creative, personal and business development, with intensive workshops and seminars catered to the different skillsets of the participants. In addition, attendees will be able to listen in to insights from industry experts, engage in hands-on activities, take home important resources and engage in networking opportunities with fellow music folk.

This year, the program will be broken up into three key focus areas of the music industry: practice, performance and release.

Practice is best suited for aspiring and early career musicians, producers, audio technicians and engineers who are freshly new to the industry and wanting to dive deeper into the behind-the-scenes of musicmaking. With prolific Western Sydney producer BeatswithSheph to guide them, attendees can expect to learn the most vital steps in production, demo preparation and mastering. A second workshop facilitated by Rick Bridgman of Good Intent will assist artists, managers, producers, videographers and content creators in turning your passion for music into a successful and evergrowing business.

Performance focuses on gig preparation, rehearsing and building confidence for live shows, with L-FRESH The LION of Village Boy Entertainment facilitating a workshop for all artists, audio technicians and producers who are keen and eager to get onto the live stage. Caitlin McGregor and Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich of MusicNSW will also focus on the area of performance by providing artists, managers and booking agents with the best pointers for navigating the music industry, understanding tech riders and working with venues, agents and managers.

Release will provide important business information around royalties and protecting your music rights as an aspiring and early-mid career musician, manager and producer. Lynne Small of PPCA, Nikki Tuckwell of APRA AMCOS and Krystel Diola of 4ESydney will facilitate the chat to help participants further understand the process of registering your work, navigating the royalty landscape and making sure your music earns the revenue it deserves. Natasha Foster will also assist in the field of releasing music with a hands-on session examining how you can bring the narrative of your music to life visually.
