The Australian database of official music credits and the country’s only ASX-listed music business, Jaxsta, has changed its name to Vinyl Group Ltd (ASX: VNL).

The move arrived a few months after Jaxsta launched an online store for vinyl albums, Vinyl.com, with the Jaxsta database offering verified creative contributions metadata on every album. In a statement, the company revealed that the “iconic” vinyl.com URL “offers a deep catalogue of vinyl records, powered by Jaxsta’s Official Music Credits”.

Today, the new-look Vinyl Group launches with a refurbished website that incorporates the company’s three existing brands: Jaxsta, the “LinkedIn for creatives”, Vampr, and Vinyl.com.

“It’s a huge privilege to be able to usher in this new era in the journey of three fantastic businesses, each now residing under the newly rebranded Vinyl Group,” Vinyl Group CEO Josh Simons commented in a press release. “This new identity is more than just a name change. It represents a unified vision for our future – a future where our technology and products are more interconnected, offering an enriched experience for our clients and users.”

Simons continued, “Through e-commerce, social network platforms and a proprietary database of official credits, Vinyl Group’s suite of transformative products will continue to connect and empower all participants of the music ecosystem. Our unwavering commitment to support artists, power the industry, and engage fans is the driving force behind our efforts.”

Vinyl Group Chair Linda Jenkinson added, “The Board has backed this new evolution for the Company, which sees Vinyl Group launch as a new, global brand dedicated to making, enjoying and monetising music. We are confident that this exciting new era will see three businesses working together to celebrate music, foster relationships, and enhance value for Jaxsta, Vampr and Vinyl.com.”

Jaxsta is known for being “the world’s largest database of official music credits”, holding more than 340 million music credits with over 355 data partners.

Earlier this year, Jaxsta CEO Beth Appleton stepped down from her post, allowing Vampr co-founder and Vinyl Group CEO Josh Simons to take her place.

On his appointment, Simons said, “Jaxsta has a clear vision and product roadmap going into FY24, and that’s a credit to the Board, Beth and the team who have done a remarkable job. Revenue, cost efficiency and profitability remain the top priorities for Jaxsta, and I look forward to building on the current momentum.

“We have the foundation for a transformational global music product as we continue to integrate Vampr into the business and scale the VINYL.com platform.”
