Apple MusicMajor changes are on the way for Apple Music users, with upgrades to the functionality of Siri AI, AutoMix, and more on the way.
Digital Music News reports that the updates were confirmed during Apple’s annual WWDC conference on Monday (8 June).
Changes to the electronics company’s streaming service will take effect following the upcoming iOS 27 update, which will see the new Siri AI system seamlessly communicate with Apple Music. Users will have the opportunity to ask Siri for information about their favourite artists, then immediately play their tunes.
AutoMix is also getting an upgrade, with Apple utilising AI to clean up transitions from one song to the next. The streamer will also introduce “faster loading and faster streaming,” increased “reliability,” artist page upgrades, and a major expansion of Apple Music’s Lyrics Translation service.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, said the company is “excited” to present “powerful new features and intelligence” to Apple Music.
Digital Music News notes that the new features can now be tested through Apple’s Developer Program, and the public beta Software Program will be available from next month.
Earlier this year, Apple Music introduced its new Transparency Tags – an optional method for distributors to disclose machine-assisted creations.

“Proper tagging of content is the first step in giving the music industry the data and tools needed to develop thoughtful policies around AI,” Apple wrote in their newsletter, “and we believe labels and distributors must take an active role in reporting when the content they deliver is created using AI.”
Furthermore, Apple noted that these nascent tagging requirements provide “a concrete first step toward the transparency necessary for the industry to establish best practices and policies that work for everyone.”
In other Apple Music news, the company’s Vice President, Oliver Schusser, recently made headlines for discussing the decision not to include streaming figures on the platform. Find out what he had to say here.
