USHTIPE! Festival
A Celebration of Romani Arts, Music, Food, and Culture, in honour of International Romani Day
Get ready for USHTIPE! FESTIVAL, a one-of-a-kind twilight event, celebrating Romani (Gypsy) culture
Presented by the newly created Romani Arts & Culture Collective, this festival is a meaningful tribute to International Romani Day, bringing together Romani musicians, artists and crafts people sharing traditions of Romani people from around the world.
The event will include Live Music Program of Romani music and musicians of varying cultural backgrounds - Czech, Hungarian, Serbian, Bulgarian to mention a few, Gypsy Caravans, Roma Language workshops, circular fashion gypsy skirt creations and an open fire kitchen.
Fresh bread and Romano Habe will be cooked over an open fire on site by reputed Romani chef Mili!
Live Music and Dance
Lolo Lovina – Australia's premier Romani-Gypsy fusion band, renowned for their electrifying performances.
Khamoro Duo – Masters of Romani folk traditions.
DJ Čoček & DJ Diaspora – Spinning Balkan beats and global sounds to keep the energy alive.
And more surprise performances!
Khamoro were the founders of the Khamoro Romani Festival that still runs to this day in Prague.
The exquisite Balkan Romani Violinist Tinei Dragoi, who just very recently returned from China, is also one of the select Romani guests stepping onto the USHTIPE! Stage.
The event is family friendly and inclusive, being held at the Addison Road Community Centre in Marrickville from 4pm-8pm.
