Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Snowy, Beefheart & McQuinn and Za Noon are stopping by for a show. Liam “Snowy” Halliwell (Snowy Band, many others…) makes the treacherous journey from Wagga Wagga, down the deadly Hume Highway, to return to the Social Sanctuary stage. Following hot on the heels of 2024’s ‘Age Difference’ and ‘Philharmonic’ albums, Snowy is performing a set of entirely new music - premiering a forthcoming record. He is joined by partner-in-crime Dylan “Snowy” Young (Snowy Band, many others…) on drums for a one-of-a-kind duo set.Beefheart & McQuinn is the new project from UK artist Moby Beefheart aka William Murray (formerly of UK outfit Fur) and Melbourne / Naarm musician Winter McQuinn (Sunfruits, jade imagine). Coming together after a chanced coffee meetup, the musical connection between the two artists is palpable. Sharing a love for the folk and rock sounds of yesteryear without pastiche obsession, Beefheart & McQuinn make contemporary psychedelic folk / soft rock, a rich sonic tapestry of vocal harmony blends and deft musicianship / production. This first offering ‘Hand In Hand’ is a Joni esque song about the effect of a busy working life in a new place coupled with the feeling of isolation and anxiety that the modern world’s political landscape can engender.Za Noon is the alias of Melbourne artist Jess Zanoni. Known as the frontwoman of alt-rock band Arbes, Za Noon is Jess’s solo venture into intriguing, incandescent alternative folk & pop. Her debut record 'Heartdrag' (out 16 May) evokes the shifting tides akin to connection, in romance, and with the world— both inner and outer. Za Noon embodies the ineffable, a tender and spirited measure of felt time and place.
