Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!

This week Planet:Pain, Obscura Hail and Hannah Cameron are stopping by for a show. Planet:Pain is a new home for songs written by Jackson Phelan (RAT!hammock) - they are kind of country but not in a yeehaw way. The songs are mostly stories - lots about parking lots and smoking and gainful employment.Riding in on the coattails of their last album ‘Playing Dead’, Obscura Hail hearse and rehearse their rotten favourites beneath a fresh bouquet of budding songs, to ring in the next unknowable quarter-century of life on Earth. There’s never been a better time to freak out to poignant existential ramblings than now, and no better place than Northcote Social Club. Hannah Cameron is renowned for her ability to knock the wind out of you with her muscular guitar and a voice that could melt tar. There’s an unwavering strength to her poetry, matched by the weighty warmth of a baritone Gretsch, and an effortless complexity to her craft. So honed is the seasoned musician’s playing and poetry in fact, that “I don’t know how she does it” is a common whisper passed among audiences at her shows. And control – of her soaring voice, her deft guitar lines and her powerful narratives – is a thread that runs deep. Whether buoyed by her live band or alone with a guitar and her thoughts, Hannah Cameron’s music carries audiences through pin-drop moments of dignified storytelling and intricate instrumentation. And if her intoxicating solo musicianship wasn’t enough, Hannah is also quietly one of the industry’s most in-demand performers (touring with artists such as The Paper Kites, Missy Higgins, Grand Salvo, On Diamond, Mimi Gilbert and more).

Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat. Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on.
