What?

slow music club is a new event series focused on artists who dwell in the quieter corners. It’s for those whose music rewards a considered ear in an attentive room. The Junk Bar’s dedicated music room (Skukum Lounge) is the perfect place to launch this idea with three Meanjin practitioners of squiggly air mastery.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4000 Records is incredibly proud to present:Cloud Tangle (‘Desire Path’ single launch)
Cloud Tangle is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Amber Ramsay, which combines visual media and musical composition to evoke a contemplative and dreamy mood. The project formed in late 2014 and found its relevance in 2016 through live shows in Brisbane. The project forms its own unique sound that falls into a dark dreampop genre with elements of lo-fi and orchestral instrumentation. Ethereal vocals soar above intricate melodies and lush synthesizers, drawing you into a floating atmospheric state. The sonic elements gather with complex texture, while lyrical content stems from concepts of philosophy, human emotions and experiences.Presenting new work ‘Desire Path’ on the night, which signifies a slight directional change for Amber, leaning into acoustic sounds and instrumental interplay whilst holding true to dreamy vocals and airy, ethereal world-building. Cloud Tangle will be in duo mode for this performance.
Fictions (Only Children tape launch)
Fictions is the instrumental music project of Anthony Christopher from Magandjin (Brisbane) Australia.
Started in early 2022, the project’s output places emphasis on storytelling through sound, the illumination of contrasts, and exploring ways musical and non-musical sounds coexist together.
Atmosphere-driven compositions emerge from layering looped guitars, drum machines, drones and synthesisers, and primarily take inspiration from film, literature, memory, and the temperamentality of nature.
Fictions is music for immersive experience, evoking a sense of contemplation, introspection and mystery through hypnotic repetitions. The listener is invited to imagine their own storyline or scenarios.
ff8282 (a thin membrane between her hands tape launch)
The solo project of Meanjin artist April Emily, ff8282's music comes from a personal space, coupling quiet reflections with noisy atmospheres.Spawning in 2019 and being insatiably prolific (arguably too much so) from the outset, April’s endeavours are entirely self recorded, produced and mixed. They have an innate ability to create unique musical moments across various genres, never settling within a specific bracket or process.
ff8282’s latest album, a thin membrane between her hands, is a cumulative effort reflecting a decade of listening and creating ambient music. April’s dedication to this specialised musical space can be heard all across their catalogue, however their performance on the latest album breaks into a new found place that is as melancholic as it is aggressive, as precise as it is devastating.
“...and bent to the breeze the others showed their shape.”
