What?

Last year, Rory Maher proclaimed “I was f***ing crazy back then” on his self-deprecating anxious-attachment anthem “Decline.” Rory Maher is back in his native Brunswick with a new single. “Form Over Function” is a song that feels both reminiscent of noughties pop rock and 90’s femme rage grunge. It attacks body dysmorphic culture with a tongue-in-cheek approach, channelling the old adage: if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.

Rory Maher channels rebellious queerness, psychology and mythology in his music. It is a love letter to both his Traditional Irish Folk upbringing, and emo phase in high school. Anxious attachment fuels the depth of his subject matter but all attachment styles welcome, there’s something for everyone in his brand of sharp-tongued lyricism and cathartic vocals. If you’ve been needing to scream into a pillow recently - this is the show for you.

Rory Maher will release this bold new song at The Bergy Bandroom on October 4th. Doors open at 2pm, be there with bells on folks!

With special guests spanning alt-folk bands and singer-songwriters this event invites you to join in on a community music event of fun, reflection and artistry.
