Hill/Hall/Raymond
Gabriella Hill (tenor saxophone), Henry Hall (double bass) and Daniel Raymond (drums) form a trio.
After spending the first few months of this new project improvising together, the band now turns their attention to playing compositions. They feel as though the intertwining of Daniel’s compositions with their individual material will move the music into a place where balance or contrast will create something that wasn’t there before.
Elsen Price
'a mix of avant-garde techniques, yet at the same time some beautiful melodic harmonic moments that really transcend a specific placement within a genre.' - CutCommon Magazine.
'Elsen Price is as comfortable in classical, new music and world music, as he is in jazz and improvised music. A confident performer and composer with a broad imagination, he is definitely a bassist to keep an eye on.' AustralianJazz.net
Born 1989, Elsen Price is a solo double bassist who combines classical, jazz, folk and experimental music into short/long form performances.
Starting double bass at 8 years old in rural NSW, Elsen won an audition for the NSW Police Band in 2008 at 18 years old, then later won a scholarship for Classical Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium in 2010.
In 2012, Elsen started performing weekly 5 hour improvisation sets at local cafes in Marrickville, and curating solo recitals in Sydney of new works by Australian and International composers.
