HEAT 8 FEATURES...

JARR

JARR consists of four members: Harrison Howe (drums), Jhaz Lewis (lead guitar), Kade Lowe (bass), and Hunter Casey (vocals/rhythm guitar). The band began in June 2024, initially performing at various house gigs while developing their original material. Their music blends modern grunge, post-hardcore, and shoegaze influences. After playing an open mic at Solbar, they were offered an opening slot just two weeks later. With fresh material up their sleeves, they plan to release several singles followed by an album in the coming months.

PRESS

PRESS is an incredibly talented and dynamic group of young musicians. Hailing from the vibrant music scene in Brisbane, this emerging Indie/Alternative band is making waves with their unique blend of sounds and infectious grooves. With a musical repertoire that spans across Alternative and Indie rock, PRESS are always putting on an unforgettable live experience.

sofia cirino

Meanjin folk-pop artist sofia cirino writes passionate and poetic anthems about the most confusing and beautiful parts of life. Writing autobiographically about all aspects of growing up and gaining a sense of self, their ethereal melodies and personal arrangements are made to be felt. They strive for a unique ambiguity in their lyricism, toeing the line between maintaining lyrical specificity, whilst allowing for audience interpretation, creating a unique connection between them and their listeners. With a live accompaniment of lead guitar (Dublin Rose), bass (Ruby Campbell), violin (Amanda Hesse), and drums (Gerry Rossi), they create beautiful soundscapes inspired by the likes of Adrianne Lenker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine.

Vacant Gaze

Vacant Gaze, based in Brisbane/Meanjin, seamlessly blends shimmering, jangly guitars and ethereal vocals with surf rock sensations. Over the past two years, this zesty four-piece has channelled their creative energy into crafting a vibrant sound that's fresh to the Brisbane music scene. With their infectious energy and undeniable chemistry, Vacant Gaze will take you on a sonic trip to psychedelic bliss.
