What?

The Greek Student Film Festival is returning in 2025, offering students a unique opportunity to use the Greek language creatively and collaboratively, develop confidence, and perhaps even take the first steps toward a future in filmmaking.

This initiative is a collaboration between the Greek Film Festival, the Greek Community of Melbourne, the Education Office of the Consulate General of Greece in Melbourne, and the Modern Greek Teachers’ Association of Victoria.

The selected works are short films within the genres of fiction, animation or documentary, which incorporate a given theme. This year’s theme is “Democracy”.

Democracy is more than just a political system – it’s a way of life, a value, a right, and a shared responsibility. This year students are invited to explore the theme “Democracy” through a short film (fiction, documentary, or animation) that creatively reflects personal experiences, emotions, or stories.

Each short film must also include the signature item, which this year is a weighing scale.

Screening will be followed by an Awards Ceremony.
