More New Talk More New Talk

Answered by: Kiera Owen

How did you get together? Axel, Sara and I met at uni after Axel proposed starting a band called ‘Sex Funeral’ to an entire class. We found Jamie in the ‘Nice scottish drummer guys isle’ and now we’re a family.

Sum up your musical sound in four words? Noisy, beautiful, polished scunge.

If you could support any band in the world – past or present – who would it be? Probably The Birthday Party or John Fahey circa ‘68.

You’re being sent into space, no iPod, you can bring one album – what would it be? The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars just to sing Bowie from space, Axel would bring Laughing Stock – Talk Talk.

Greatest rock’n’roll moment of your career to date? A girl grabbing me in a head lock for the most part of our song Scunge. Then again, another time I failed miserably at popping a bottle of champagne on stage. Slipped on the foldback. Sang on.

Why should people come and see your band? We love putting on a show, and I think we have an edge about us that is worth investigating.

When and where? 8 Nov, WAM Festival, The Mustang Bar; 14 Nov, The Hive
