VIDEO PREMIERE: The Florets - 'Just Coast'

"The floaty backbeat and chipper organ took me right out to sea."

More The Florets The Florets Profile

Melbourne band The Florets are back with a brand new, sun-drenched single called Just Coast and we've got the exclusive premiere of the video today on theMusic.com.au

The track itself coasts along with warm, summery vibes so it's only fitting that the clip follows suit with a playful nautical animation. Speaking about his inspiration, animator Nicholas Griffith said, "When I want to come up with an idea for a video, I put my headphones on and go for a walk.

"I live in a coastal town and on this particular day I walked to the grocery store because I had no food. However, it seems I should have walked in the other direction as the floaty backbeat and chipper organ took me right out to sea. As with most videos I do, I made a lot of it up as I went along. The Lobster King and guitar solo scene was a last minute edition but also one of my favourite scenes to date."

Songwriter and vocalist Nick Dawes was similarly stoked with the interpretation.

"I love seeing other artists interpretations of our work and am stoked with how Nick approached the track," he said.

"The song was originally about taking life one step at a time hence the name Just Coast but as Nick lives near the sea he instantly thought of coastlines and a nautical approach."
