After the huge success of her debut, self-titled EP (which gained syncing deals with shows like Lucifer and The Wrong Girl), QUAILS (aka Amy Pes) is back with her second offering, WORLDS.
"I have always been fascinated by the layers and psychology which comprises human interaction and relationships. It is a constant theme in the music I write and WORLDS is no exception," she said of the EP. "I am always trying to capture and express those intense feelings of longing and loss, all the while experimenting with vocal work and having accompanying music which makes you feel something.
"I spent a lot of time bingeing Westworld and watching sci fi films around the time I was writing and finishing the EP so I guess the title is kind of ambiguous and lends itself to unreal, dystopian and metaphysical worlds, but also in a more personal sense, honing in on those intimate and internal worlds."
We're stoked to be sharing the clip for 700kph today (by Thelonius Poon), a track that QUAILS has said is about young love.
"This song examines the breakdown and the heartache of young lovers separated by distance. I got to work with Louis Fourie (Lockjaw) which was exciting for me as he transformed my piano lament into an emotional heaving journey."
