VIDEO PREMIERE: Perfect Moment - 'Not This Time'

"I felt like I was left with no option but to sport my grandmother's beret and sing along."

Perfect Moment, aka Alex Gow, is back with a brand new video today, premiering exclusively with The Music

Dubbed Not This Time, the track is the first single from Gow's forthcoming album Kangourou.

"The lyrics were direct and unadorned by infinite lyrical techniques songwriters regularly embrace," said Gow of the track.

"The song is a simple one, a mantra of convincing oneself to interrupt a pattern of relationship self-sabotage. The old ‘don’t fuck it up this time'."

The video was filmed in regional Victoria and was directed and edited by Gow himself.

"Well. The record's called Kangourou. That's kangaroo in French. Therefore. I felt like I was left with no option but to sport my grandmother's beret and sing along," he told The Music

"As for the underwater footage - I spent a day out at Drouin Secondary College in Gippsland, Victoria and simply tried not to drown. I shot and edited the whole thing. Which feels around right as I wrote, performed, and recorded the song."

It's been a busy year for Gow, who also launched a podcast series earlier this month where he take an in-depth look at the songwriting processes of some of Australia's most renowned artists while they create a song on the same guitar. Find out more about the project - featuring Alice Skye, Bernard Fanning, Sarah Blasko, DMA'S guitarist Johnny Took, and Paul Kelly - here.
