Papaya TreeSydney outfit Papaya Tree aren’t afraid to explore new sonic territory, as evident via their newly released EP Mortuary Magic, and a fresh take on single Flowergirl shows another side of the band.
The song itself is “a new approach for the band”, and the stripped-back rendition, premiering today via The Music, cuts to the core of the track.
"Whilst we are not afraid to take our music to new places and redevelop old ideas, this is the first time we have stripped a song back to its bare roots and focused on developing vocal harmonies rather than our instrumentation,” Papaya Tree told The Music.
The acoustic revisit of Flowergirl was imagined and arranged by Zac Olsen and recorded by Phan Sjarif, and its accompanying clip was produced by the band’s long time videographer Harry Scott and shot in the live room at Parliament Studios.
