"I had lots of little monsters which I decided to use for a claymation video for the song."

Illawarra-based singer-songwriter Nick Griffith (Big White, High-Tails, Dream Dog, Bored Shorts) has unveiled his new single, I Wanna Dance A Lot.

The new track is a collaboration with Tuffence Meringue (aka Body Type’s Sophie McComish) and is accompanied by a charming claymation music video, premiering today via The Music.

“Sophie and I spent a week in Margaret River a couple of years ago. Whilst lazing around the house one day, we wrote this song together,” Griffith told The Music.

“The lyrics were written later but recalling that time where we watched the sunset on Gnarabup Beach and fell asleep watching daytime reruns of Judge Judy.

“The video came about from having a box of plasticine left on my coffee table for a few months and whoever came over for a coffee could also make a little plasticine thing. After a little while, I had lots of little monsters which I decided to use for a claymation video for the song.

“The idea was that the monsters would dance to the song. That’s about as deep as the concept ran. I planned out the sets/backgrounds that would progress throughout the video and then just had fun with it, improvising the movements and outcomes.”
