PREMIERE: Kudos Previews Upcoming EP 'Stop Trying' With New Single & Video 'The Rhythm'

12 September 2017 | 12:20 pm | Staff Writer

The single follows on from his work on his previous extended player, 'Give'.

Noosa-bred, Melbourne-based hip hop luminary Kudos is returning to the fore with new single and video The Rhythm, taken from his eagerly awaited second EP, Stop Trying.

Featuring some smooth '90s sensibilities — dig those record scratches — and Kudos' fast-paced, acrobatic lyricism, the tune carries narrative both literal and metaphorical, demonstrating both the artist's versatility as a writer and agility as a vocalist.

The Rhythm also features cuts by DJ Lickweed and was mastered by Benjamin Kramp at Earthshake Audio.

The clip — which was shot on location in Brisbane, on both the streets (we see you, Soleil tower) and among the historic hallways of The Foundry, in Fortitude Valley — is produced by the respected folks at the Que Film Collective, who have been tapped to handle two more of the Victorian emcee's videos over the next few months.

It all comes less than a year since Kudos unleashed his well-received debut EP, Give, and finds the rapper once again exploring himself and the world around him as he continues his ascent among the local hip hop ranks.

The five-track Stop Trying, produced by Kleen Beats, is due for release in early 2018.

The Rhythm is available on all the usual streaming and digital platforms here.
