Australian singer-songwriter June Jones presents another ‘80s-inspired alt synth pop piano ballad with her latest single, Meryl.

The new cut is written from the perspective of the mayor of Jones’ heart.

"Meryl imagines my heart as a bureaucratic institution, governed by the titular character and narrator,” Jones told The Music.

“It is ultimately a song about an unpredictable emotional landscape and a frustration with a lack of control.

“I wanted it to be at once melancholic and humorous, absurd yet heartfelt. The song was produced by Geoffrey O'Connor, and the video was made by director KB Bailey alongside a group of very talented people."

Meryl will receive a hometown launch at School House Studios on June 1; all the details of which you can find in theGuide.
