"We are living in complete denial, of a truth that has been out there for longer than anyone is prepared to admit."
Ahead of its official release this Friday, The Music is proud to today be premiering the video for Freya Josephine Hollick's new single, The Real World!
The single is set to be the title track on the Ballarat songwriter's forthcoming album which was recorded at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree.
"The Real World song and film clip are really intended to send a message from the earth to the human race that destroys it," Hollick told The Music.
"My heart breaks as I watch the way we live impacting the health of the planet. Mass extinctions, soil erosion, melting ice caps, forests levelled, poisoned water, and increasingly extreme weather events. We are living in complete denial, of a truth that has been out there for longer than anyone is prepared to admit.
"Science made society aware of the greenhouse effect in the early 19th century. Aldous Huxley wrote at length about the topic in his book The Human Situation in 1959. The Real World is the only way I know to help.
"It was intended as a gentle reminder to heed the warnings. But I fear we are too late, and we must now prepare to adapt as we watch the world take back its health."
