"That made nearly every idea I had at first impossible."

More FANGZ More FANGZ

With FANGZ latest music video originally requiring a stack of live footage that had yet to be filmed, they needed to “find a fast solution” when COVID forced them to cancel a slew of tour dates across the country and overseas.

Two days before the Sydney punk rock outfit’s Drifter tour was scheduled to kick off it was cancelled, and while they had some footage from their previous run supporting Falling Out it wasn’t enough.

“We decided to keep the tour footage for a future clip, and reshoot the [Who Are We Now] video from scratch,” director Kim Quint told The Music.

“Because the band had put most of their money into new merchandise, and still hadn’t been paid for any of the tour shows, we basically had no budget for the clip. That made nearly every idea I had at first impossible.

“Meanwhile, FANGZ decided to improvise, and set up a space which they ended up calling the ‘FANGZ Bunker’. They invited other local artists and friends over, to perform live acoustic songs to stream to Facebook. While watching one of those videos I thought why not shoot a music video in there.

“Everyone is at home in isolation and can relate to it. I wanted to show what is still possible, and how many things you can do although you’re stuck in the same room for weeks."
