"We wanted an acoustic track on the album, and we’d never written one for any of our previous releases."
Newcastle punk quintet Eat Your Heart Out have dropped the new video for their ethereal 2019 tune, Pear Tree - from their debut album, Florescence .
Premiering the clip exclusively with The Music, vocalist Caitlin Henry said the track was an outlier to the rest of their LP, and chronicles the lament in losing mans best friend.
"Pear Tree was written entirely in the studio when we were recording Florescence as we decided we wanted an acoustic track on the album, and we’d never written one for any of our previous releases. The lyrics are based on a poem Will had written about the death of his childhood dog Oscar, and at its core it is a song about loss and grief."
Henry added that the band are hard at work on new tunes, with this video putting their finishing touches on the journey of their 2019 release.
"We filmed the video in a break between lockdowns in late 2020 with Brandon Lung and a couple of our close friends around Newcastle," she explained. "With this release, we are so excited to close out Florescence and move into a new chapter of Eat Your Heart Out!
