The NT singer-songwriter releases her debut album next month.

More Caiti Baker More Caiti Baker

Northern Territory muso and BIGSOUND standout Caiti Baker is nearing ever closer to the release of her eagerly awaited debut album, Zinc, and ahead of its October release, she's unveiled a new video clip for her lauded recent single, I Won't Sleep.

Featuring Baker behind the wheel of a sleek black Chevy against soft blue-and-pink lighting, and soundtracked by her soulful voice and the song's irresistible horn blasts and cruising beat, the video's late-night drive aptly reflects the song's spirited defiance against slumber's call, the lyrical genesis of which rests in Baker's own battle with chronic fatigue syndrome.

As she said at the time of the single's release, "I Won't Sleep is a song about finding my identity after having been asleep with CFS for so long."

"The driving production is a musical metaphor for the energy and hype that for so long was absent in my life," she said. "In a way, it's a celebration of having clarity and being present."

Zinc was produced by J. Mangohig (Daniel Johns, Briggs) and Michael Hohnen (Dr G Yunupingu, Saltwater Band, Tom E Lewis), and is set to land on Friday 6 October through Perambulator Records/MGM Distribution.

Pre-orders are available now.

Caiti Baker sets off for a tour in support of her debut album from release day, when she gets under way at Wollongong's Rad Bar. From there, she'll hit stages in Canberra, Newcastle, Newtown, Mullumbimby, Miami, Brisbane, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Adelaide.
