Of Monsters And Men On Their Expansive Career & The Music Industry: "I Can Really See How Bizarre A Lot Of It Is"

PREMIERE: Boykie – ‘Mixed Up’

Perth-based indie rockers Boykie continue their Still Hiding music video anthology series today with the release of a charming clip for single Mixed Up.

The band are releasing six videos in six weeks to celebrate the release of their debut EP, Still Hiding, and the fourth instalment echoes their previous efforts, starring and featuring singer-turned-director Sam Stopforth and local actor Meghan Gibson Lagdon, who plays his mother, Jocelyn.

The video explores the long-distance relationship between Stopforth and his mother, as the frontman sits quietly watching TV and Lagdon brings cheerful vibes as she dances and sings along to the single.

“With this video, we wanted to shine a light on those moments of concealed parental pride... those proud moments you don’t see,” Stopforth said.

“The video draws us into the world of a mother who is just going about her day at home, jamming out to some music. Flashbacks fill her mind, forming the reason why she is singing and dancing.

“Through this, we begin to understand who is singing and why she loves the song so much. This is a celebration of their mother-son relationship, but it is also a lament to the time they now spend apart as the son has well and truly left the nest.”
