"I really wanted to go back and reimagine the song in a different way - essentially ‘cover’ my own song."

Melbourne producer and multi-instrumentalist Albert Salt has unveiled a very special version of his track Family Tree with a video premiering exclusively with The Music.

The indie composer said that the alternative version of the track was as much about the visualisation of the tune as it was about the music.

"After the release of my new song Family Tree, I really wanted to go back and reimagine the song in a different way - essentially ‘cover’ my own song," he stated of the track.

"I wanted to take a very cinematic approach similar to how I make a lot of my film music by using a lot of violin and deep Moog Bass a la Max Richter, but also decided to add a CR-78 drum machine to give it a bit of a retro groove."

Salt continued, "once I completed the song I got to work on the visuals. It was all shot on my iPhone using the app Filmic Pro which gives you much more manual control over the camera.

"It really shows how powerful iPhone cameras are, but just limited by their own software. Being able to adjust the aperture, shutter speed and focus with some interesting lighting, you can get some really dynamic looking shots."
