Triple J have finally released their Hottest 100 of the Past 20 Years album as well as a customised songbook.
With their knack for hunting down new music talent through Triple J Unearthed and for just being really great people, Triple J have found a place in the hearts of Australia's youth and well, just everyone in general now that we think about it.
Just think, it was all started back in the summer of 1975, Triple J tumbled onto the Australian airwaves and kind of took over straight away.
Then eventually in 1989, Triple J had a bit of a lightbulb moment and began a little tradition we now know as the Hottest 100. At first, the Hottest 100 was compiled of listeners favourite songs of all time with JOY DIVISION topping the very first list with their legendary track 'Love Will Tear Us Apart', now 20 years later the Hottest 100 is listened to religiously around the country on Australia Day and not too long ago, Triple J celebrated their 20th year of the Hottest 100. How did they celebrate? Well of course they asked listeners to vote for their favourite tracks from those memorable years and the Hottest 100 of the Last 20 Years was created.

The list premiered on our radio waves, just as the yearly list is every Australia Day, and the tracks that made the cut couldn't have been better. With RADIOHEAD's 'Paranoid Android', DAFT PUNK's 'One More Time', JEFF BUCKLEY's 'Last Goodbye' and THE WHITE STRIPES' 'Seven Nation Army' all scoring pretty high on the list, they ended up being absolutely crushed by everyone's favourite OASIS track 'Wonderwall'. Not so surprisingly, a song from almost every year was accounted for, the oldest being NIRVANA's haunting 'Heart Shaped Box' and the newest being 'Little Talks' by Icelandic group OF MONSTERS & MEN.
The great news is that you can now buy the top 40 songs from The Hottest 100 of the Past 20 Years. The album is now available through all good media outlets and of course the great ABC stores here there and everywhere. Also released today is the Triple J's Hottest 100 Songbook which includes a collection of exclusive tracks composed for piano, guitar and vocals. So much exciting stuff to add to your Triple J collection, if of course you have a Triple J collection, otherwise you may be entitled to start one and what better way to start it than with everyone's favourite tracks of the past 20 years.
