Boys Noize
I owe this remix and Boys Noize everything. I remember the pivotal moment, I pulled my car over and listened to this song. It sent me into a spiral of inspiration, at that moment I said to myself I want to put sounds together like this. Everything (in my opinion) this guy does is incredible and HUGELY influential to me as a growing artist.
Calvin Harris
An unexpected one, but he is an insane producer. He’s got this bouncy, luscious, addictive sound design and melodies. I remember there was this one point through Calvin I started listening to music differently, more detailed and intrinsic. It's like I stopped listening to music as a whole and started breaking it down in my head and really feeling an emotion that was being portrayed through the songwriting.
Golden Features
I was well into production when I discovered Goldens first EP and wowweee it blew my mind. I was experimenting with sounds at the time, unsure of my direction but through Golden's completely new take on house I was inspired down a darker track with my music and it stayed with me throughout my entire journey.
Zhu
What I love about Zhu is his unique songwriting skills. I can tell straight away from hearing a track if it's Zhu produced. He has crazy addictive melodies, vocals and it's so minimal yet so full. His output is insane too; I discovered him through "Faded" and he has released the biggest bank of music since. Every song all works so tightly in the realm of the "Zhu sound".
Sofi Tukker
For me, but, I've never heard house music like this before. "Johny" has to be the SEXIEST track I have ever heard (haha), something you'd hear on a Quentin Tarantino movie. They really inspired me to get creative writing house music, learn the rules, break the rules. I ended up adding a greek guitar sample to one of my releases "Sweat" which was inspired by Sofi Tukker's use of guitar, but also how they add so much of their own culture. I wanted to add something from mine!
