Creating a sonic space that is bursting with soft psychedelia and transportive indie-pop, Dreamer Boy is exploring emotion, romance and friendship in his own unique and evocative way. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, the 24-year-old artist is releasing experimental DIY bedroom pop that dances around country-inspired elements, hazy lo-fi and a strong touch of nostalgia. Romanticising sounds of the 60s and 70s, this reflective music will have you gaze at the past, contemplate the future and connect with the present. Emerging on the scene with his self proclaimed "cowboy pop" in 2018, Dreamer Boy has produced a string of misty-eyed singles and a coming of age debut album, that showcase his introspective songwriting and eclectic music-making. Supporting the likes of Clairo, Omar Apollo, The Marias, Still Woozy, and more, Dreamer Boy continues to make bold strides into 2020 with more self-aware music. As his second release for this year, Dreamer Boy is back with his new single 'Crybaby', a song which sees him continue his hot streak of infectious dream-pop bops.
Inspired by a psychedelic experience that led to an outpouring of emotion, 'Crybaby is an intimate jam that shows the singer at his most vulnerable. Aiming to connect with audiences through vivid storytelling, Dreamer Boy explores sweet nostalgia and the freedom of youth through spacey electronica and RnB beats. Layered with dream-pop and lo-fi sensibilities, this bop feels gentle and relaxing with glimmering guitars and psych-infused elements. With woozy vocals and a hazy blend of atmospheric sound, 'Crybaby' feels like a cathartic release following an emotional build-up. With the addition of a visual music video that matches the misty psychedelia heard in the track, Dreamer Boy explores his youth and emotion through glittery, trippy and technicolour visuals. Inspired by David Bowie and George Harrison this video brings life to 'Crybaby', showing the intimacies of this young creative.
As he continues to explore and delve into his creativity and uncharted sonic territory, what better time to get to know Dreamer Boy than now? Here, we get the lowdown from the mastermind behind 'Crybaby' himself as he gives us the scoop on what he thinks are the ultimate tear-jerkers. Get the tissues ready, and take a read below.

Re: Stacks by Bon Iver
This has always been one of my favourite songs. The ambience of the acoustic guitar and the emotive delivery makes me sink into nostalgia, peace, and swept up in this little world Justin Vernon created. I have returned to this song during times of trouble and continue to let out tears to this tune over the years.
Bet by Mereba
Probably one of the most emotional vocal performances I have ever heard. The subtle twang of the production and the sweeping slide guitars puts me in such a nostalgic place. My favourite lyrics on the song are “I let you in my day, I love the way you call me baby”.
Carolina On My Mind by James Taylor
This song makes me think of my father and my mother’s love for each other. More specifically, it takes me back to a time in which they may have been young and uncertain about the future, but they continued to keep their faith, love one another, and eventually welcomed me into the world. I can't explain why this song connects with me in that way, it's something about the story telling on this one.
Eugene by Sufjan Stevens
This song takes me back to childhood, and makes me weep. I crave the purity in songwriting like this one. I love the story telling and specific imagery. This whole album makes me cry, as I'm sure it does for a lot of people.
Slow Burn by Kacey Musgraves
This is one of my favourite songs because it describes both the personal and together journey of love. We have to be patient with love, patient with ourselves, and patient with the one we love. The first time I heard this song I was in the car and I was crying the whole ride home.
