How long have you been together? I have been writing music under the Tesla Coils name for years, starting off performing in open mic nights. It was three years ago that I met Chris Dennis (drummer) and joined forces.

Which Gold Coast bands before you have been an inspiration? We both have played in GC bands since high school, so we've been around the hard-working local artists Gold Coast has to offer. We love Chelsea Rockwells, The Black Swamp, and Wren Klauf - great performers and friendly!

What part do you think the Gold Coast plays in the music you make? The Gold Coast scene allowed us to bring our music in a live setting and exposed us to such supportive people. We won Hard Rock Rising, leading to publications in Blank GC, and a performance at BIGSOUND.

Did you think you were in with a shot of winning a Gold Coast Music Award? We were up against such talented artists - being nominated was a pleasure and it was a milestone to be among such great company. Our victory was not just a win for us, but the whole community.

What's in the pipeline for the band in the short term? We are currently recording new music - we have another visual EP in production - which includes perfecting the songs, and filming and directing the videos. Also more shows, tours, and making everything bigger and better.

When and where are your next gigs?: 13 May, Kirra Sports Club, Kirra; 19 May, Night Quarter; 2 Jun, Heya Bar; 3 Jun, Miami Shark Bar.
