Single Focus: The Incredible Kicks - Any Excuse

The Incredible Kicks talk about their new track, Any Excuse.

Is this track from a forthcoming/existing release?
No, it's an in-betweener and motivation for a tour. Though, it is foreshadowing an upcoming EP release in July.

How long did it take to write/record?
This is quite stripped back from our usual style, so it seemed refreshingly quick! Only a couple of rehearsals and recorded in a day.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making?
The 'underwater synth' sound. I just loved it so much, I had to write a song around it. The Doctor from triple j had a slightly different opinion on it than myself however…

What's your favourite part of the song?
The last verses, there's an opportunity for a bit of a yell and some big harmonies.

Do you play it differently live?
Absolutely, it's a little different every time. There's no script for the drums and depending on the severity of the guitar solo, that will shape the intensity of the rest of the song!

Will you be launching it?
Saturday 14 April at Yours & Owls in Wollongong, Sunday 15 at The Lansdowne in Sydney and on Saturday 21 at the Roll Over Festival (Live @ The Wall).
