Sydney Fringe Festival 2016: Blackbird

Answered by: Eleanor Ryan

Describe your show in a tweet? Una and Ray had a relationship 15 years ago. She was 12 and he was 40. He abandoned her, and they haven't seen each other since. Now she's found him again...

Why did you decide to do Fringe this year? Fringe is a fantastic platform for unique and interesting work so as an artist it's exciting to be part of. When I read the play I was hooked, I can't imagine an actor not wanting to tackle this work.

Tell us a bit about the creative team working on this project? It's a great team. My co-star William Jordan keeps me on my acting game, our fierce producer Alexandra Voyage makes sure no one drops the ball and our eternally patient director Andrew Langcake is the driving force behind it all.

What will make you stand out in the Fringe crowd? This play does not hide. It's confronting, raw and beautifully written. It's evocative and uncompromising but makes no judgement, leaving its audience to reflect on the themes and questions long after the curtain falls.

When and where is your Fringe show? 6 - 10 Sep, 8.30pm, Off Broadway Hub.
