A music fan laments the loss of a music venue he never attended.
A man has admitted he is “devastated” about the closure of a live music venue that was forced to shut last July due to financial issues.
Yackandandah resident Mark Jeremy said it was a “shame” that the room isn't open anymore and music fans such as himself will have to go somewhere else.
“To be honest, I didn't realise it had closed until it came up in conversation last week,” he said. “I hadn't been there for five years but I did quite enjoy the times I had there before that. Life just gets in the way, you know.”
Mr Jeremy, who works in insurance marketing, added, “I believe live music is a good thing for the community and I'd like to see live music come back to the area. Naturally, it would have to be pretty tactful and agreeable.”

The long-suffering venue had finally closed its doors last year after dwindling numbers for emerging band nights and mid-week noise complaints forced the owners' hand. The site was then purchased by developers, who intend to turn it into affordable student units this year.
Today Mr Jeremy said that he had not been to a live music show since the venue closed, but said that he “wouldn't be opposed” to the idea if “one of those bigger international bands” came around.
He said he was prepared to voice his opinion in support of local live music, but wouldn't be taking part in any sort of activism as it's not really his “style”.
